Motorola Milestone Android Update

Like i wrote a few months ago i bought my Motorola Milestone through the Amazon Store in Germany. In the beginning there was no difference but after a few weeks it turned out that the Motorola Milestone/Droid buyed through Amazon is a special version called DACH. This leads to the problem that there was no possibility to update in the last weeks to any newer version of the Android system. Whenever i tipped the point “System Update” in the phone menu i received the response that there was a problem connecting to the server. Since i had the “automatic system update” turned on, i thought it will update by himself.

New cell phone pricing plans: Verizon, AT&T, Sprint

Cell phone plans updated

After Verizon Wireless announced last friday their new pricing plan restructuring, AT&T Wireless immediately followed and unveiled their updated cell phone plans too. Today is the day that those changes go into effect.

From both carriers announced as an effort to simplify the plans , the numbers reveal that the truth behind these changes are the profits: Verizon’s revenue will be now up 24% (they reported $15.8 billion in Q309), with 17% coming from data services.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard Fehler kann alle Benutzerdaten löschen

Verschiedene Nutzer berichten von massivem Datenverlust, nachdem sie auf die aktuellen Version OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard upgegraded haben und sich dann mit dem Gast Konto angemeldet haben auf ihrem Mac. In den Apple Support Foren berichtet eine Vielzahl von Snow Leopard Benutzern vom Verlust all ihrer persönlichen Daten nachdem sie sich an ihrem Mac Rechner mit dem “Gast Konto” eingeloggt haben.

Wie die Betroffenen berichten, scheint der Bug (Fehler) alle Einstellungen des Mac und alle Programmeinstellungen zurückzusetzen. Weiterhin löscht der Mac danach den Inhalt in den Ordnern DoKumente, Fotos und Musik – was als besonders kritisch zu bewerten ist.

Die ersten Berichte über diesen Fehler erschienen am 03. September 2009, bereits 6 Tage nachdem Apple die aktuelle Version von Snow Leopard (auch bekannt als MAC OS X 10.6) veröffentlicht hat. Die Betroffenen berichten von massiven Datenverlusten, nachdem sie sich mit dem Gast Konto auf ihrem Rechner angemeldet haben – unabhängig davon ob diese Anmeldung versehentlich geschah oder bewusst. Den Berichten und Einträgen zu Folge, handelt es sich bei den Betroffenen um Benutzer, die ihr System von MAC OS X 10.5 Leopard auf snow leopard upgegradet haben.

Speziell das sogenannte “Snow Leoprad Home Verzeichnis” – also das Verzeichnis das den Hauptbenutzer des Mac´s beinhaltet – wird durch eine neue leere Kopie ersetzt, nachdem sich die Benutzer mit dem Gast Konto angemeldet haben und dann wieder mit ihrem Hauptbenutzer angemeldet haben. Scheinbar waren dann alle Standardordner, wie z.B. Dokumente, Downloads, Musik, Bilder etc., leer und der Desktop sowie das Dock erschienen in einem Design, das den Usern als “Lieferzustandsdesign” bekannt ist.

In then Foren wird dazu geraten alle Gast Kontos auszuschalten um die versehentliche Anmeldung beim Login zu vermeiden. Einige konnten ihren Datenverlust wieder retten, in dem sie ihre Time Machine Backups zur Wiederherstellung nutzten, während eine Vielzahl der Betroffenen jedoch eingestehen musste, dass sie keine Backups durchführen.

Bis jetzt hat Apple noch keine Stellung zu dem Bug bezogen und Anfragen vom vergangenen Montag noch nicht beantwortet.Readers who read this article, also read:

Hello,

if you are seriously planning to update to the new MAC OSX Snow Leopard 10.6 you should just read this info, which i found while planning to update my mac to snow leopard 10.6. There seems to be a lot of software which is still incompatible with the new operating system MAC OSX 10.6 Snow leopard and if you upgrade it will disable the software and you cant open it anymore. When you are dealing with space restrictions (like Twitter´s 140 character limit) URL shortening becomes just a big deal. Nower days there are a lot of different URL Shortening services out there, but the one i recommend is redir.ec . So i have been playing around a little bit in the last days with Applescript and Textexpander, because i always try to save time by using snippets through textexpander. Its like the shortcuts on your system, just configured as you want – and its damm easy and simple. So everybody can set it up very fast.

WOW – There is a solution for your Windows problems

I am a PC user and I am also a Mac user. That’s right.

When it comes to computers, I enjoy the best of both worlds. In fact, I have used BOTH Apple and PC-based computers since they became available almost two decades ago!
